Ichō Kamairicha 50g
Kamairicha is one of Japan’s rarest teas — pan-fired in a dry wok-like pot, much like traditional Chinese green tea. By contrast, almost all Japanese green teas today are “set” with steam. This small-batch spring harvest of the Fushun cultivar carries the warmth of the wok in its toasted grain sweetness, while remaining round and soft with almost no astringency.
Ichō refers to the special withering process that allows the leaf’s natural aroma to deepen and unfold into an extraordinarily sweet, floral bouquet. Hints of orchard fruit and meadow flowers mingle with a touch of roast, leading to a finish that is clean, green, and delicately nutty, with an unbelievable floral "hui gan" — that pleasant, returning aftertaste.
This tea reminds us of the finest Taiwanese Baozhong oolongs and ranks among our very favorite Japanese teas of all time.
