Asanoka Sencha 50g
Grown in the misty foothills of Mt. Fuji near the Oi River, this rare single-cultivar, single-estate Sencha is a true gem. The Asanoka cultivar accounts for less than 1% of Japan’s total tea production, and as a non-blended, single-origin tea, it is even rarer.
This first-flush spring harvest comes from an artisan-scale producer. Asanoka means “fragrance of the morning” — a fitting name for this unique cross between a wild seed-grown Japanese Zairai tea plant and the Chinese Hiramizu cultivar.
Despite being unshaded, its naturally high amino acid content lends remarkable umami depth, complemented by bright floral aromatics, mild and vibrant astringency, and mellow vegetal notes. Hints of chestnut, sweet potato, and spring meadows emerge with each sip, making this a truly refreshing Sencha.
